8 Questions to Ask Before Hiring a Real Estate Agent in Sherwood, Oregon
And Sherwood Oregon Realtor, Stacy Owen's Answers too!
Before you commit to using a Real Estate Agent in Sherwood, or anywhere for that matter, you need to ask some important questions. The answers to these questions shouldn't be hard for any reputable realtor, and will give you a good feel for their abilities in the real estate world.
1. Is your real estate license is in good standing? You can conduct an Oregon licensee search go to: http://www.oregon.gov/REA/licensedata.shtml
2. How long have you been in the real estate business?
I have been a Realtor since 2003. Real Estate isn’t easy, so when a real estate agent has been in the business for a while, it’s usually a good indication that they’re going to be pretty good at their job.
3. Can you give me a list of testimonials and references? Make sure once you get them you actually check them.
You can find some of Stacy's real estate clients testimonials here, and feel free to email her at stacy@stacysellsyourhome.com for references.
4. How long have they lived in the Sherwood area?
I have lived in Sherwood since 1994, 17 years. If your real estate agent is actually part of the community, you can feel more comfortable that they’ve got a good reputation.
5. Who is the real estate agent representing – the buyer or the seller?
I represent both buyers and sellers, but not in the same transaction or as a “dual agent”. To get the best representation your agent should represent your interests only. Your first conversation should have this as part of it. Your agent should tell you what either option means for you and what those definitions mean.
6. What kind of commitment does your Real Estate agent give you when you commit to them? What can you expect in frequency of contact, showing of houses, emails and mailings?
Communication is key and my commitment is to return all e-mails and/or phone calls to my clients ASAP. When selling a home, my sellers will receive updates regarding market conditions, frequency of showings and feedback reports as they become available.
When I work with a buyer the process of finding and viewing homes depends on their level of need. Negotiation is one of my key strengths and as your agent I will always work in your best interest when putting together a contract. In either case once a buyer or seller is under contract the process of facilitating the transaction to closing is of the utmost importance and constant communication is a necessity.
7. How many homes has the real estate agent listed or sold in the past year?
I have listed 28 homes over the past year and have also sold 9 homes to buyers. In addition I have had a Buyer’s Agent that has worked with me on my team.
8. Is being a real estate agent their full time career?
Absolutely and this is key! Real Estate sales is not a part-time job. I am 100% dedicated to my clients needs.
The more you know about your real estate agent before you start working with them, the more likely you're going to be to be pleased with the results.
